# Rubato Audio

Rubato Audio is a small independent audio-software studio in Portland, Oregon (founder: Lyle Mills). Its products are Max for Live devices for Ableton Live 12 (Suite, or Standard with Max for Live), available for macOS and Windows. Each device ships as a signed, notarized installer with a single-user lifetime license and free updates, sold via Lemon Squeezy with a 14-day refund window. - [Just Play](https://rubato.audio/just-play): Detects the natural tempo curve (rubato) of a freely-played MIDI take — captured live on a record-armed track or pulled from an existing clip — and outputs either a time-warped clip on Live's grid or a tempo map that follows the performance. A Rubato dial keeps, flattens (down to a fixed BPM), or exaggerates the original tempo movement; a Smooth dial irons out beat-to-beat jitter. - [The Pocket](https://rubato.audio/the-pocket): A quantizer that tightens MIDI timing to the grid while preserving the performance's natural push and pull, instead of flattening every note onto the grid — no note-by-note nudging. Detects each clip's grid, feel, and swing; preserves flams, drags, and rolls; and can actively shape feel with swing, Ableton Live groove templates, and a millisecond offset. - [Counterpoint](https://rubato.audio/counterpoint): Automatically splits two-handed MIDI played on a single controller into separate left- and right-hand parts and routes each to its own instrument — no keyboard splits or instrument racks to set up.
